Everywhere we turn this week, we are faced with the images and stories of the destruction in Haiti. I urge you to take the time to pray for the safety of the rescue workers, for the survivors to see God’s mercy and grace pour out on them, and for healing for both the physical and mental wounds that this catastrophe has wrought on the people of Haiti. During your quiet time with God, if you feel Him leading you to help with the rescue efforts by to giving financially above and beyond your tithe to the local church, I urge you to consider giving to organizations that will not only help with the physical needs, but will also intertwine it with the Gospel message and the hope that Jesus brings to us all. Compassion and Mercy Associates (CAMA), the Alliance relief and development arm, is bringing help and hope to those devastated by the 7.0 earthquake that destroyed Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital. In partnership with sister organizations already on the ground, CAMA will provide immediate assistance—including clean water, emergency shelter, medical aid, and other necessities—as well as long-term help in rebuilding efforts, integrating Jesus’ message of redemption with practical acts of compassion. A compassionate response during a disaster tangibly expresses Christ’s love and opens doors for other ministries,” says Phil Skellie, CAMA’s president. a prayer conference by Jonathan Graf, author of "The Power of Personal Prayer" and "Praying Like Paul" and founding editor of "Pray!" magazine at Southside Alliance Church. He will be speaking on Saturday, March 6th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, and on Sunday morning, March 7th at 10 am. We will also have a concert of prayer Saturday night at 6:00.
