Nursery Discipline Policy (as adapted from S.A.C.C.E. Handbook, 2004-2005)
Rules
Respect others and their property. Obey nursery staff members.
Discipline WILL NOT include any sort of physical touching (spanking, swatting, slapping, shaking, pulling) or ridicule, sarcasm, threats, or abandonment.
Level 1 Progression
- The child will be warned verbally.
- The child will be moved gently to another part of the nursery, away from the scene of disruption.
- The child will be assigned a one-on-one staff member as needed.
- If the child is of age a nursery staff member will address the child on his/her level alone, but in plain view of another staff member.
Level 2 Progression
- The Nursery supervisor, director or C.E. Pastor will address the child (if the child is of age) alone, but in plain view of another staff member. Parents will be contacted and encouraged to work on the problem during the week at home.
- The parent will be paged and asked to remove the child for the rest of the event.
- The parent may be required to stay with the child in the nursery the following week.
- If the problem persists, the child may not be allowed to return.
